Our Design Process
Great outdoor spaces start with great design. At Sage and Pine, we focus exclusively on the design side of landscaping — creating detailed, thoughtful plans that homeowners and contractors can bring to life. Here's how we work together, from first conversation to final deliverables.
1. Consultation
We start by getting to know you and your project. We'll talk through your goals, style, budget, and any site constraints, so we understand exactly what you're hoping to create before any design work begins.
2. Site Inventory & Analysis
Tyler visits the property to document existing conditions — terrain, soil, sun exposure, drainage, and existing vegetation. Understanding how the climate and terrain interact with your specific site is the foundation for a design that actually works on the ground, not just on paper.
3. Initial Design
Using insights from the site visit and our conversations, we develop an initial design concept — laying out the spaces, features, and plantings that bring your vision to life while respecting the natural character of the land.
4. Review & Iteration
We walk through the initial design with you together, gather your feedback, and refine the plan. This is a collaborative back-and-forth — we want the final design to feel truly yours.
5. Final Design Package
You'll receive a complete, polished design package, including detailed plans and perspective renderings that bring the space to life visually — everything you or your contractor need to move forward with confidence.
Additional Support (As Needed)
Our involvement doesn't have to end at the final design. We're happy to coordinate additional work afterward, including:
Design refinement — adjustments as your project evolves
Construction team coordination — working with your contractor to ensure the design is built as intended
HOA coordination — preparing materials and communicating with your HOA for approval
